101VetNet
![]()
02/12/06 - The 101Vetnet Mailman program has been disabled. This was a free service being provided to us, and our provider apparently changed his mind. Look for a replacement type service in the future when time allows. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks to those that participated!
Our Association is proud to announce a new on-line mail-list network called 101VetNet. This service has been operational since May of 2003, and is provided to us free of charge by Steve Vaitl. We'd like to see if this feature can be useful to add value to our membership and a method to encourage others to join. Some intended topics might include;
| What's Happening in the Association | Reunion News |
| Immediate News about our Membership | News from the Active Division |
| Looking for Old Friends | Questions about our Association |
| How to Find Information on Your Relatives | Ask Questions You've had about the 101st |
| News About Military Retirement Benefits | Current Events |
| Where Can I Find........? | Whatever Happened to ...........? |
| Getting to Know Other Members |
To participate, visit https://ssl.bdchiro.com/mailman/listinfo/101vetnet for additional information. You can sign up for all messages individually, or in a digest mode to get one mailing each day. This service has been operational for since Mid-May of 2003, and at year end 2004 had 170+ members.
Your request is processed automatically (sign-up and remove). It would be appreciated if you would introduce yourself then, or shortly after you sign-up, letting us know your name, unit you served with, dates, places, etc., and anything you might want to share about yourself...
Outside notes sent to the VetNet from non-members are held until approved, administrative resources are limited. It's recommended that you have your mail sending format set to "plain text". This is easily done, please read the procedure below on how to set this up.
If you have questions, feel free to ask..

EASY TO USE WITH SIMPLE REMINDERS
After you've signed up, you can send messages to the network by simply addressing and e-mailing them to 101vetnet@bdchiro.com
If you've asked to receive your messages daily in the digest mode, please do not respond or "reply to" the messages because it will send your reply and the entire digest you received back to the network. If you're replying to a message that was named "Met an Old Friend", use the same title in your message, and this will carry the topic.
Please keep your messages short, the mail server limits the messages to 40KB. Forwarding pictures, graphics, etc. does not work. You can send links to other sites in your messages. The mail server will also defer your messages that contain lots of CC: e-mail addresses, thinking that you're sending spam.
If you have more than one e-mail address, remember to use the one you've registered to the 101VetNet with, or it will not recognize you as a member.
The mail server will record and track the number of times your e-mail can't be sent to you, these are called "bounces". After so many times, the server can and will unsubscribe you after sending you several messages.
Following the few simple rules above improve your luck and make using this mail server easier for you.
Please let me know if I can help.....
